As a Traditional Naturopath (TN) my focus is on using natural remedies and therapies to promote health and support the body during illnesses.
This approach is rooted in the philosophy of naturopathy, which understands that the body is designed by God with the ability to heal itself when provided with the right environment, nutrition, and lifestyle support. To accomplish this we often use herbs, food, homeopathy, and the overall foundations of heath to address imbalances in the body. The purpose is to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

Please keep in mind that I am NOT a medical doctor! However, I have personally spent about 16 years studying the human body. So I do have a very good understanding of how the human body works and functions. My goal is to share that understanding to help you support your body naturally so help you live a healthier life!

I also an using my training and studies as a Traditional Naturopath to focus on many of the health principles found in the Bible – which gives us a beautiful holistic approach to well-being, integrating physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. These principles are found in the Scriptures and offer timeless guidance for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Here are some key Biblical health principles:

1. The Importance of the Body:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

The Bible teaches that our bodies are sacred and should be treated with respect, care, and gratitude as they are entrusted to us by God.

2. Moderation and Self-Control:

Proverbs 25:16: “If you find honey, eat just enough—too much of it, and you will vomit.”

1 Corinthians 9:25: “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

These verses highlight the importance of moderation and self-discipline, encouraging us to practice temperance in food, drink, and other aspects of life.

3. Healthy Eating:

Genesis 1:29: “Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’”

Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14: These passages describe dietary laws in the Old Testament that emphasize clean and healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and certain animals.

Biblical principles encourage a balanced diet, focusing on natural, wholesome foods.

4. Rest and Sabbath:

Genesis 2:2-3: “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.”

Exodus 20:8-10: “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.”

Rest and relaxation are vital components of health. The Sabbath is a day for physical rest and spiritual renewal, teaching the importance of rest for our bodies and minds.

5. Exercise and Physical Activity:

1 Timothy 4:8: “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

While spiritual growth is paramount, the Bible acknowledges the importance of physical exercise for health and well-being.

6. Forgiveness and Emotional Health:

Ephesians 4:31-32: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Emotional health is an essential part of overall well-being, and forgiveness is emphasized as a critical practice for emotional healing and peace.

7. Trust in God:

Proverbs 3:5-8: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Trusting in God brings peace of mind and reduces anxiety, which can positively impact both mental and physical health.

8. Spiritual Health and Peace:

Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Spiritual well-being is foundational in the Bible, where peace from God is promised to those who trust Him, which helps reduce stress and anxiety.

9. Community and Relationships:

Galatians 6:2: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”

Healthy relationships with others are vital for emotional and mental health, and the Bible stresses the importance of love, support, and community.

These Biblical health principles remind us that physical health, emotional well-being, spiritual growth, and relational connections are all intertwined. These principles if practiced will help balance us, giving us a healthier life by honoring God in body, mind, and spirit.
